Over the last twelve years Robert has served as a Fractional Marketing leader for startups in the technology and media industries, and served as an advisor to more than 500 companies, including 15 of the Fortune 100.

As a fractional marketing leader, Robert works primarily with business leaders as an extension to their team to help them navigate the new complexities of modern marketing and digital media.

As a fractional strategic advisor and consultant, Robert has spent the last decade working with leaders at brands such as Salesforce, SAP, Anthem Insurance, Capital Group, Roche Pharmaceuticals, The Globe and Mail, Informa, and ServiceNow among others.

Robert has served as the fractional Chief Strategy Advisor of The Content Marketing Institute since its launch in 2010, and helped guide it to be the leading global content marketing education and training organization. Prior to that, Robert was CMO of Crownpeak – leading the marketing and product development of one of the world’s first enterprise Software-as-a-Service web content management solutions.

Robert also serves as a board member and investor for many technology startups and entrepreneurs.

Robert is the author of four best-selling books on modern marketing and content strategy. Thousands of students have attended Robert’s training on Marketing Fundamentals, and Content Marketing Strategy. His course on Content Marketing is the American Marketing Association’s certification course. Robert is also the co-host of the popular marketing podcast This Old Marketing, which is downloaded more than half-a-million times every year across 150 countries.
